Description
This book was not written to be popular; it was written to be accurate. I did not set out to critique Black culture, nor did I wake up one day angry, wounded, or looking for a fight. What led to this book was far more unsettling than emotion: clarity. Clarity was gained the moment I realized that asking basic, reasonable questions was no longer allowed if you shared my skin color. The response was not disagreement. It was enforcement. I was not challenged on facts. I was challenged on identity.
